  Patel to protest TN move on Cauvery project
Karnataka Chief Minister J H Patel yesterday said he would write a protest letter to the Prime Minister against Tamil Nadu for directly writing to Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund, Japan, urging them against funding the fourth stage of Cauvery drinking water scheme which envisaged augmenting water supply to the city.
  Gogoi welcomes Vajpayee's offer for talks with ULFA
ULFA vice-chairman Pradeep Gogoi has welcomed the offer of talks by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee with the ULFA for solving insurgency and said the proposal should be accepted. 43-year-old Gogoi, who jumped bail twice since 1996, said an amicable solution through negotiations was the need of the hour.

Vora committee calls for overhaul of Delhi Congress
There is a need for overhauling the party in Delhi at every level, members of the Vora Committee, which submitted its report to party president Sonia Gandhi on Friday. The Congress had formed a committee under former Uttar Pradesh governor Motilal Vora in view of the coming Assembly elections and the poor performance of the Congress in the recently-held Parliamentary elections.
Buta, kin have hidden income of Rs 10 cr: ED
As if he doesn't have much to worry already. The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that Union Communications Minister Buta Singh will have to face trial in the JMM bribery case. And now it has been learnt that the Enforcement Directorate is looking into his personal and family income assessed at around Rs 10 crore.

Dump Buta, Hegde, Ram, Jaya tells PM
It's now official. AIADMK leader J Jayalalitha wants Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to dump Union ministers Buta Singh, Ramakrishna Hegde and Ram Jethmalani. If he doesn't, she says, Vajpayee should re-induct her partyman Sedapatti R Muthiah who recently quit after a Chennai court framed corruption charges against him.
Basu agrees on Kidwai as Governor
West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu has agreed to accommodate the BJP-led Government's request to transfer Bihar Governor A R Kidwai to his State. In return, Home Minister L K Advani assured Basu that he would be consulted before a new governor is appointed to West Bengal when Kidwai's term ends on August 12 this year.
