  Hegde's verdict: Buta's case is different from mine
Unfazed by Communications Minister Buta Singh's resignation at the behest of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Ramakrishna Hegde is confident that he will not suffer the same fate as his tainted colleague. And this despite the fact that Jayalalitha is continuing to bay for his blood as also that of Urban Development minister Ram Jethmalani, accused of being involved in a FERA violation case.
  Corrupt Cabinet ministers are not the prime concern: Uma
Union minister of state for human resource development Uma Bharati feels that long-term objectives are more important for the BJP than the presence of some tainted ministers in the Union government. "We have a bifocal vision, concentrating on the distant objective," Uma said on Sunday.

Jaya has no claim on moral values: Moopanar
Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar on Monday said the BJP's claim of providing an able and stable government had proved hollow within just a few weeks, going by recent developments. He disputed AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha's claim that she sought "high standards and probity" in public life by asking Sedapatti R Muthiah to step down as Union Minister for Transport.
BJP turns the heat on Digvijay Singh
The Madhya Pradesh unit of the BJP has adopted a belligerent attitude towards the State's Congress Government and called upon Chief Minister Digvijay Singh to resign. The BJP has said the Congress government has failed in all spheres in the past four and half years and asked it to get a fresh mandate from the people.

The suspense over the tabling of the Srikrishna Commission report on the Mumbai riots in the State Legislature continues with Chief Minister Manohar Joshi choosing to keep it under wraps. It was expected that Joshi would make public the report on Monday as promised earlier.
