Widow burnt alive by her family Khatoonbibi Babubhai Shaikh, 50, a widow who lived in the slums behind the Maniar trailer factory in the Rakhial area, was set ablaze by her 13-year-old son Raju, daughter Razia, and son in-law Ilyas on Monday night. She was admitted to the New Civil Hospital, where she died during treatment on Tuesday morning. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was engaged in the flesh trade to earn a living for herself, which the accused did not like. Bapunagar police has registered a case of murder.Court order Karanj police on Tuesday said they have been directed by the metropolitan magistrate court number 5 to produce Samad Dadhi alias Abdul Samad Abdul Vahab Shaikh before it. Samad who is presently abconding, faces charges of threatening to kill one Zarinakhan Pathan, who runs a travel agency at Pattharkuva on Relief Road. Khan, according to the police, complained to the police that Samad had come to her office on Tuesday evening, placed a revolver at her temple to threaten her with dire conseqences if she did not stop filing complaints against him.
