Samiti alleges police terrorism
Adivasi Bachao Abhiyan Samiti has alleged that it was forced to cancel a camp, meant for tribals, as the police and forest department officials were terrorising them. The camp was to be organised at Ahwa, the headquarters of Dangs district as part of Dr Ambedkar's birth anniversary celebrations, said Paresh Chaudhary and Rameshbhai Vasava of the Samiti, adding the officials were falsely accusing the tribals of being involved in Naxalite activities. Chaudhary claimed the camp was also organised to spread the ideology of Dr Ambedkar since independence. He said that though crores of rupees were being spent on tribal development schemes, they still faced problems. Referring to the Sixth Schedule in the Constitution that provides autonomy for tribals, Samiti members alleged that the administration had objections with the word `autonomy' and were terrorising innocent people in the name of curbing Naxalism.

The Sarvajanik Education Society has decided to construct a `Pranav Bhavan' to expand the scope and activities of the Shastriya Sangeet Vidyalaya, run by it, in the memory of renowned musician Markand Pt Omkarnathji Thakur.
