MSU campus diversity programme decentralised

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, APRIL 21: For effective implementation of the Ford Foundation-aided campus diversity programme, each faculty of M S University will have a committee, instead of functioning under the supervision of one core team.

This was decided by Vice-Chancellor Padma Ramchandran after members of the core team claimed they were not aware of the present status of the programme and were being informed of decisions after they had been made. Still others said after the first few meetings, they were kept in the dark about the programme. Introduced a year ago, the programme aims to create social harmony among students and spread awareness about drug addiction and alcoholism. However, the programme did not take off properly.

With the decentralisation, each faculty can decide on plans, timings and student-involvement on its own from the beginning of the new academic year.

Faculty members will have to submit a report of their plans to Ramachandran while MSU union president S R Pandya will be accountable for the financial expenditure.
