GHAZIABAD, April 22: The Government Railway Police (GRP) today rescued a two-and-a-half year old daughter of a Baghpat based businessman who was kidnapped by a beggar on April 20 from a marriage party in Baghpat. The GRP has arrested a Madhya Pradesh based beggar in this connection. The arrested beggar Lalchand Jatav has reportedly confessed that he was an active member of a gang of beggar who would kidnap children and would force them to beg in the streets after maiming them.
Lalchand, a resident of a village under Pardesipura police station of district Indore in Madhya Pradesh, reportedly told the poplice that his gang uses to kidnap children from states other than Madhya Pradesh. This made it difficult for the police to find the child. Lalchand disclosed that his gang members travel long distances to other states and beg there. Whenever they manage to kidnap a child they leave the place and reach Indore. There the gang maim the child and hand him over to a beggar. The beggar would then train the child. The child later becomes a member of the gang.
Lalchand told the police that he had come to Baghpat a few months ago. He was roaming near a wedding pandal in Tatiri on April 20 when he saw two-and-a-half year old Aayushi, daughter of a local businessman Rakesh Aggarwal, alone outside the pandal. He picked up Aayushi and fled. He left for Delhi immediately and reached Ghaziabad today. He was waiting for a train to Indore at Ghaziabad station when a GRP constable saw him.The constable asked who the girl with him was. Lalchand could not provide a satisfactory answer and later confessed his crime.
Aayushi's father has been informed that his daughter has been rescued. Rakesh had registered a FIR with Baghpat police. Ghaziabad police is contacting Indore police to nab other members of the gang.
