City actor shines on small screen

CHANDIGARH, April 22: A City resident is playing an important role in a six-episode serial currently being aired on DD-1. The serial titled "Bandhak", directed by G.S. Channi, comes every Thursday morning at 8.40 a.m. which has a City-based bank officer Madan Gupta Spatu in the role of a man obsessed with business. Gupta has previously acted in telefilms "Tum Akeli Nahin" (1993) and "Prayashchit" (1994), both of which were shown on DD. His forthcoming ventures include 13-episode serial "Rishtey hi Rishtey" and telefilm "Yatra".

Painting contest held
Nearly 800 students from about a dozen Chandigarh schools, participated in a painting contest organised by the Generation Saviour Association at the Yadavindra Public School, here this afternoon.In the contest organised to mark the No Tobacco Day, students from Classes I to XII -- split in five categories -- were asked to draw or paint on topics concerning hazards of tobacco use.
