  Sachin wins, India loses
Sachin Tendulkar's 14th century in One-day Internationals (ODI) enabled India qualify for the final of the Coca-Cola Triangular cricket series on Friday. Tendulkar's ODI best of 142 (6x6, 9x4, 131 b) helped India (-0.33) pip New Zealand (-0.40) on the net run-rate for a slot in the title clash against Australia.
  Chang overcomes Delgado
Defending champion Michael Chang overcame a spirited challenge from Paraguay's Ramon Delgado yesterday and struggled into the second round of the US men's Clay Court Championships. Chang, who is back from a partial cartilage tear in his left knee suffered less than two months ago, was pushed to the limit before he tamed the 21-year-old Delgado 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1).

Cesare Maldini plan to tackle Paraguay
Italy's scoring struggles have prompted coach Cesare Maldini to unveil a new, three-pronged attack for a World Cup tune-up against Paraguay. Strikers Alessandro del Piero and Christian Vieri, former club teammates, and winger Francesco Moriero will start together in tonight's match, the first of two exhibitions Italy has left before France '98.
Openers Yadav, Sharma battle for pride
Karnataka assured of winning the Ranji Trophy, reduced the fourth day's play of the final to a farce when the skies opened up and halted play 22 minutes before the scheduled close at the KSCA Stadium on Wednesday. Karnataka, after opening up a 483-run lead, could not motivate themselves into once again demolishing the opponents.

Third win for TNEB
TNEB defeated Hyderabad spikers 15-12, 15-6, 15-12 to register their third victory in four round robin league matches of the first leg of the Federation Cup Volleyball Championship at GSFC yesterday. After winning the first two sets easily, TNEB trailed first 0-5 and then 1-11 in the thrid set, but fought back to win it 15-12.
