Law exams from May 5

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 28: After a series of meetings, authorities at the Central Law Campus have decided to resume examinations from May 5. The examinations will follow the old schedule till May 19. The papers which were cancelled will be conducted after that date.

A truce was reached between professor-in-charge Nomita Aggarwal and the students on the admit card issue. The students have stopped pressing for zero attendance and Aggarwal has agreed on a review.

``We have agreed to relax the rules uniformly for all students. We will consider only those who have a marginal shortage. We are not going to give all 70 students admit cards if they don't fall within the relaxed rules,'' says Aggarwal.

She has already sent a recommendation to the faculty on re-evaluation. The students will now take up the issue with the VC. The only hitch now seems to be the divided view on the schedule for the postponed examinations. ``One group has sent me a letter stating that since the civil services exams start by the end of the month, the postponed examinations should be held later,'' Aggarwal says.

``Meanwhile, there is another group of students who feel that the examinations should be finished before the others start. We will have discussions tomorrow and decide. From my side, I am willing to finish the examinations by May 25.''

Late in the evening, the CLC Student's Union ``unanimously decided to continue with the boycott of the examination, even if it is rescheduled, until our demands are conceded to, most important of them being the issue of revaluation''.
