Tytler even threatened to go to court and the election commission in this regard before the forthcoming assembly elections. Delhi is to go to the polls in November to elect the state assembly. Tytler even displayed bogus identity cards issued to one person with different addresses.

Tytler claimed that whatever gains were made by the BJP in the last 15 years had been on the basis of the bogus and duplicate votes. He claimed that the total voters in Delhi were around 54 lakh but there were more than 83 lakh people registered to vote.

In a statement Tyter said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state had not only registered a large number of bogus voters but had also wrongly given ration cards to a lot of people. He alleged that crores of rupees worth of sugar, kerosene oil, wheat and rice had been siphoned off through the ration shops by giving false figures to the central government by the ``BJP controlled Delhi administration.''

Tytler conceded that the large scale registration of bogus voters was an old problem and did exist even before the BJP government but blamed them for fueling the fire.
