Cong charges of corruption are baseless and false
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, April 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Delhi Cantonment, Karan Singh Tanwar, today termed as baseless the charges of corruption levelled against him by the Delhi Congress. Tanwar, who is also the administrator of the Fish, Poultry and Egg Market Committee, today described the reports regarding the Rs 2.80 crore poultry scam as ``baseless, concocted and false''. The scam was first brought to light in the annual report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the Delhi Government. Tanwar pointed out that he could in no way be connected with the scam because the purchase and sale of dana or chicken feed was not under his jurisdiction.``The committee, which is an undertaking of the Delhi Government, charges one percent market fee from the commission agents as permissible under the rules to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the seller as well as the purchaser,'' he said. Tanwar said the committee had no poultry farms and had no concern with the feed purchase. Reacting to the allegations made against him in the poultry scam by Delhi Congress spokeswoman, Kiran Chaudhary and former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler, he said that as they had involved him in the case, he would file a defamation case against the two in a week. He also alleged that as the Assembly elections were coming, the Congress was holding demonstrations to defame him in false cases in order to gain political mileage.
