MUMBAI, April 29: Due to the prevailing ambiguity on the qualifications of the registrar's post, yet another acting registrar was appointed till further orders by the Vice-Chancellor of University of Pune Dr Arun Nigavekar today. M G Shinde took over charge from acting registrar Dr Arun Adsool.Adsool completed a six-month term as acting registrar on April 28. He had taken charge following registrar Subashchandra Bhosale's retirement last October. However since Nigavekar has decided to re-check the ``controversial'' qualifications for the administrative post of registrar from the State government and the University Grants Commission (UGC), M G Shinde, Deputy Registrar from the Academic Section was given temporary charge.
The UoP management council had recently decided to defer the decision on issuing an advertisement for the post even as it was dereserved and the State government had clarified its stance on the academic qualifications for the registrar's post.
The State government had upheld the professor's academic qualifications for the registrar's post which had been opposed by a section of the management council members who had demanded during the former V-C Dr Vasant Gowariker's tenure that the advertisement should be cancelled and a new one with correct UGC qualifications be published.
