Enqvist outlasts Agassi for title

Munich, May 3: Thomas Enqvist rallied to beat Andre Agassi 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 in the final of the BMW Open today. Agassi was seeking his first title on european red clay in 10 years and his third title of the year. But in the seventh-seeded Swede, he met an opponent who matched him shot by shot.

Agassi, is surging back into the top ranks after a disastrous season last year. A former No. 1, Agassi had slipped as low as No. 141, before coming back into the top 20 this year.

Hingis denies Novotna

HAMBURG: Top-ranked Martina Hingis struggled to close out the match before beating Jana Novotna 6-3, 7-5 today for her first title on European red clay. The 17-year-old Swiss collected $79,000 for her victory and earned her third title of the year. Novotna had to settle for $36,000.
