Bar dancer burnt to death by paramour

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
May 3: A 30-year-old bar dancer was burnt to death by her paramour at her residence at Four Bungalows, Andheri, late Saturday night.

Sheela Shrivastava, who worked as a dancer at Tipsy Bar, Dadar (west), was married to Sudhakar Pagare. A mother of a year-old son, she was wooed by Murad Kadri, a regular customer at the bar. Despite repeated rebuffs, Kadri did not stop with his entreaties to Sheela marry him. On Saturday evening when Pagare had left for Lachangaon near Nashik for some work, Kadri visited Sheela's residence and asked her to accompany him. She refused, and also asked Kadri to leave. Kadri was enraged and in a fit of anger doused kerosene on Sheela and set her ablaze. Hearing the commotion, the neighbours broke into the house and rushed Sheela to Cooper Hospital. She sustained 90 per cent burns. In a dying declaration to Oshiwara police, Sheela named Kadri and his infatuation with her. Kadri, who too suffered burns on his hands and torso, was admitted to Shakti Nursing Home, Jogeshwari. Oshiwarapolice have registered a case of murder against Kadri.
