NEW DELHI, May 3: The highly decomposed bodies of a 35-year-old man and a two-month-old girl were recovered from a well in the Kanjhawala area of North-West Delhi last night. The police are yet to ascertain the identity of the victims.Preliminary investigations have revealed signs of injury -- possibly inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon -- on both sides of the man's head. And except for his underwear, there no clothes on the man's body.
The girl was dressed in a red frock and faint ligature marks were spotted on her neck. The police also found traces of blood on the ground near the well as well as burnt remnants of some clothes. They suspect that the murders took place four days ago.
According to DCP (North-West) Satyendra Garg, a passerby complained about a foul smell emanating from a well near Madanpur Dabash village in Kanjhawla to some PCR personnel.
When the police reached the spot they found the highly decomposed bodies inside the well. Though the water-level in the well was close to five feet, the well itself was not being used for drawing drinking water for a long time.
The bodies have been sent to a mortuary and will be preserved for 72 hours awaiting identification. The police have also released the description of the bodies across nearby villages in this regard.
A case of murder has been registered, and the police are investigating all possible angles in this connection.
