Teachers boycott checking for 1 hr

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 3: Teachers' on paper checking duty at the Punjab University gymnasium today boycotted their duties for an hour to protest the non-implementation of their demands regarding payment of remuneration for paper-checking.

Paper checking duties were disrupted when agitated teachers said they should be paid more for invigilation, paper setting and evaluation, apart from increased conveyance allowance.

Paper checking could be resumed only after the Controller of Examination and other officials of the examination department visited the spot and assured the teachers that their demands would be considered. The issue had been raised in the meeting of the University Syndicate earlier and the university had decided to constitute a committee to look into the issue.
