Minister wants express way completed soon

AHMEDABAD, May 3: State Road and Building Minister Savjibhai Korat has urged Union Surface Transport Minister Devendra Pradhan to expedite the completion of the express highway between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. According to an official Press release, Korat met Pradhan in Gandhinagar on Sunday and discussed with him issues related to the express highway. Korat said the National Highway Authority of India had been entrusted to construct the highway but due to some administrative problems, the project had been delayed.

Korat urged Pradhan to look into the matter and initiate actions to remove the hurdles in the way of completion of the project so that the the cost of the project did not rise further. Korat also urged Pradhan to convert National Highway (NH) 8 between Ahmedabad and Rajkot into a four-lane highway .

Besides inviting Pradhan to inaugurate the Surajbari bridge constructed on NH 8, joining Saurashtra and Kutch, Korat urged that the tenders floated for the construction of a bridge on Mahi river at NH 8 be approved at the earliest.
