RCF shocked

Mumbai, May 4: After Mahindra & Mahindra's shock defeat, it was the turn of another local team, RCF from the hands of Haryana Police in the All India Level Kabaddi tournament at the Worli Sports Club Ground yesterday, it was the turn of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers (RCF) today.

The full strength Haryana team always looked too strong as RCF went down 38-10.

ONGC playing under the able guidance of well-known kabaddi player Madhusudan Patil, also are looking a dangerous team having won all their matches todate in the tournament.

In th women's section Tararani (Kolhapur), Vivek Mahila Sangh and Rachana Sports Club (Nashik) have showed their dominance. The tie between Vivek Sangh (Vasai) and Vishwashanti Krida Mandal ended in a 18-all draw. Priti Desai, Gautami Raut and excelled for Vivek while Rashmi Dhadve and Kavita Gawde played solidly for Vishwashanti.

Chembur Krida Kendra scored an easy 26-6 win over Rana Pratap of Pune. Devyani Patil and Sandhya Shirodkar put up a brave show for thewinners.

In a thriller Mumbai Police pipped Andhra Police 24-23. Pravin Kuralkar of Mumbai Police had the distinction of scalping four at one go. In the last match, Bombay Port Trust registered a 37-13 win over Central Railway. The win was studded with some fine performances by Jayant Gurav and Manik Rathod.
