Course in Japanese
MUMBAI, May 4: The Academy of Japanese Language and Culture (AJLC), an institute which promotes Japanese language and culture amongst Indian citizens, has announced a 12- week certificate course commencing from May 10 on every Saturday and Sunday between 9.30 to 12.30. The course comprises basic knowledge about the Japanese language and conversational skills. Students will be taught using audio visual aids and practice sessions. Students will have to appear for an examination and will be awarded a certificate.

Language Day celebrated
The Directorate of Languages of the state government celebrated Rajbhasha Day (State Language day) on May 1 at the Government Law College hall.
Director P G Patil assured the public that his office would work towards the wider application of the Marathi language in different spheres of administration. The main attraction of the daywas a novel antakshari of technical definitions/words in the state language.
Chinmaya Mission lectures
The Chinmaya Mission will hold a lecture-series under the aegis of the Swami Chinmayananda Memorial between May 6 and 8 at Kanji Khetsi Sabhagriha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chowpatty, between 6.30 and 8 pm. The speakers this year include P G Anantanarayanan, Justice Srikrishna and Swami Bramhananda Saraswati of Chinmaya Mission, Bangalore.
