Plan for 21st century city roads ready

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, May 4: The final report of the Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Plan for Vadodara 2011 A.D. will be presented here on Tuesday.

According to Deputy Town Planner of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority R S Gandhi, the report -- prepared by the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune at its behest -- gives suggestions for easing traffic congestion in the city. The report, which took one-and-a-half years to prepare, cost nearly Rs 13 lakhs.

Gandhi said the experts of the Pune-based institute had suggested that vehicles be parked in public places, traffic junctions be altered, local bus routes be changed and the road network be improved. The final report will be submitted by Dr Madhubabu, traffic planner of the CIRT.

The report has been prepared after incorporating suggestions of various city bodies. The draft report was submitted last year.
