The decision on the awarding of a Rs 2.57 crore contract for the sump, a pump house, compound walls and feeder lines is expected to be taken at the Standing Committee meeting on Thursday.

The work is part of the Rs 5.91 crore project recommended by the Tata Consultancy Services. The HUDCO has already sanctioned a Rs 4.12 crore loan for the purpose.

Ice destroyed: The VMC on Monday destroyed nearly 200 kg of ice from various shops and food joints near Jubilee Garden, Pratap Talkies and the Baroda Music College as a precaution against epidemic, an official spokesman said.
