NEW DELHI, May 4: Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Vijay Kapoor has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to evolve a strategy to tackle the water problem in the city.In areas where potable water was unavailable, arrangements should be made to supply drinking water through tankers, he said.
Kapoor, who visited several DDA projects today, including the Dwarka project, also said that construction of trunk lines connecting sewerage treatment plants should be completed within a time-frame.
When Kapoor visited the Dwarka Project, senior officials complained that an acute water shortage and regular power-cuts had slowed down work.Following this, the L-G directed the Jal Board to ensure that a minimum of 10 million gallons of water is supplied to the area every day with immediate effect.
He also called upon other agencies like the DVB and PWD to start work on the additional infrastructure so that the project is completed within its time schedule. And heads of these agencies should monitor their work on day to basis.
