Save time this way...
Manisha Datar
Do you want to save some time during the day. Try some of these timesaving tips and ideas for shortcuts to speed up your chores. Write a ``TO DO'' list so you don't spend time trying to remember what you forgot you were supposed to do. Keep a few trash bags in the bottom of your trash can for replacing when you take out the trash. Put cardboard under furniture when moving it. It will slide easier. Clean your rings in jewellery cleaner while you do your dishes. Fill the sink with hot water and dish soap before you begin to prepare a meal and add the dirty dishes as you use them and by the time you are finished preparing your meal, the dishes can be cleaned up easily. Pack the kids bags, prepare for their uniform, socks n' shoes (polished) the night before. Make sure all home-to-school notes are signed and in their packs the night before. This saves countless hassles in the morning. After the kids are done with their baths, spray down the tub with cleaner and come back later once the kids are in bed to wipe it down. It will be quicker and easier since it soaked a bit. A quick and easy way to remove pet hair from upholstery and car seats is to wipe your hand across the material while wearing a latex glove. The hair will stick to the glove like glue! Every time that you are about to run out of an item, write it down on a list on a paper on your refrigerator or near where you hang your keys, that way you will have it ready if you need to go shopping instead of trying to remember everything at the last minute. Use a bucket or apron with large pockets to carry your cleaning supplies around to use from room to room. Set aside 15 minutes each day to clean one area of your house. By the end of the weekend, you won't have much cleaning to do. Treat your toilet to an overnight soaking of vinegar once a week. Highlight all numbers that you use from the phone book. It will be easier to find them the next time you call. Soak burned pots and pans in water with a little vinegar to cut down on scrubbing time. If you are getting a catalogue that does not interest you, call the company and ask to be taken off the mailing list. Always use see-through containers or baggies, whether it is for food or other perishable as well as non-perishable stuffs.Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
