HC clears way for Sasikala's trial
The Madras high court yesterday cleared the decks for the trial of Sasikala Natarajan, close friend of former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha. Sasikala has been accused of violating the FERA to the tune of 680,000 US dollars when she was chairman and director of the now defunct channel, JJ TV.

Security guards march out of ultra-free Punjab
The Punjab Police has drastically cut the security provided to politicians, police and civil officers, their relatives and civilians since the days of terrorism in the border state. The step has been necessitated largely in the wake of complaints of the misuse of security guards by most of the protectees, Director General of Police P C Dogra revealed.
