AHMEDABAD, May 5: In a daring daylight robbery in Broach city on Tuesday, two motorcycle- borne youths looted Rs 10 lakh from a cashier of a private company at gun-point and shot dead his security guard when the latter tried to stop them.The cashier was also injured in the incident.According to police, cashier of Videocon Limited, Bipin Bhatt and the security guard Dal Bahadur Singh were coming out of Bank of Baroda, near Shital Guest House, with the money for the salary of the employees.
When the two were about to leave the place in the company jeep an unidentified youth waylaid the vehicle and ordered Bhatt to come out of the jeep. He also took out a revolver and tried to snatch the cash bag. When Bhatt opposed, one of the youths fired a shot injuring his hands.
In the meantime, the security guard of the company tried to nab the culprit but the later shot him dead at point blank. Police said that the bullet hit the guard on forehead and he died on the spot. The looter later, escaped on a motorcycle.
Courier robbed: In a similar incident of loot, a courier was robbed of Rs 7 lakh by four unidentified miscreants near ONGC Circle in Ankleshwar town on Monday. Police said that that incident occurred at around 9.30 pm when Parshottam Ramabhai Patel, an employee of Natwar Chunnilal Company, was going in an autorickshaw with three bags containing cash and parcels. He was accompanied by two of his colleagues.
