PUNE, May 5: The crime branch today sent a team of sleuths to Mumbai to probe into the suspected involvement of some employees of a petrochemical giant from Patalganga in Thane district in the adulterated petrol racket which was busted in Pune recently.The team, which is led by sub-inspectors Ram Jadhav and Shrirang Langhe, has also been assigned to investigate into the suspected involvement of a Mumbai-based transport company in the racket, inspector Vilas Ghag who is investigating the case said.
Meanwhile, Additional Sessions Judge M N Patale today adjourned the hearing pertaining to the anticipatory bail applications moved before him by Mhamadevi Chowk-based Scooter Service Station petrol pump's owner K C Akkalkotkar and Darvesh Khan, both suspected members of the racket.
The hearing of the arguments by the defence counsel and the prosecution about the application is scheduled to be held tomorrow. K C Akkalkotkar and Darvesh Khan had moved applications seeking anticipatory bail on April 26.
Theywere granted interim anticipatory bail on April 29.The racket was busted when the crime branch sleuths raided K C Akkolkatkar's petrol pump on April 26 and arrested Ahmed Khan, Abid Shaikh and Niwas Jadhav while deloading a tanker filled with rexin.
