PMC meet on stilts deferred

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, May: 5: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) standing committee today postponed the discussions over the administrative proposal to make stilts compulsory for new building constructions in the city.

The committee which met today expressed that the proposal needs a thorough discussion and hence the members wanted to ``study it in full details'' before approving it.

The committee, however, upheld the administrative proposal seeking its approval for contesting the ruling by the arbitrator over the Parvati-Sarasbaugh ropeway project. According to the ruling, PMC has been held guilty for the breach of contract with the Bombay Cable Car Company (BCCC) and has been asked to pay compensation to the company. The PMC administration has decided to contest the ruling at the Bombay High Court.

The meeting also approved the civic garden department proposal to enter into a contract with Suhas P Jog, owner of Jogs Birds Breeding Centre, for managing PMC's bird centre at Thorat Municipal Garden in Kothrud.
