Aditya, Shreepad, Kapil lead Deccan Gym to win

PUNE, May 5: Three half-centuries, one each from Aditya Barthakur (56 not out), Shreepad Bgagwat (51) and Kapil Laghate (55), who captained the under-16 Maharashtra squad last year, gave Deccan Gymkhana a deserving 103 run victory over Club of Maharashtra in the Late Kamal Bhandarkar memorial under-19 league cum knock-out cricket tournament, here today.

Deccan Gymkhana, after setting a target of 240 for the loss of six wicket in the stipulated 40 overs, forced the Club of Maharashtra boys to bow down in 38 overs with 136 runs on board.

Apart from the three half centurians, which played a major part in Deccan Gymkhana's win, the name of Pranav Inamdar is worth mentioning. Pranav with his consistent medium pace led the bowling attack for the winners as he claimed four wickets for 23 runs. Spinner Kiran Adhav also took two wicket for 32.

In another encounter of the day, Star Cricket Club suffered a three wicket defeat at the hands of PYC Hindu Gymkhana, with Swapnil Vaidhya, Digvijay Kamthekar and Ranjit Kamthekar managing the show for the winners by claiming two wickets each.

Deccan Gymkhana: 239 for six in 40 over (Kapil Laghate 55, Shreepad Bhagwat 51, Aditya Barthkur 56 not out, Vinit Patil 2/25, Aditya Gokhale 2/23) beat Club of Maharashtra: 136 for eight in 38 over (Dhiraj Jadhav 19, Aditya Davle 15, Pranav Inamdar 4/26, Kiran Adhav 2/12). Result: Deccan Gymkhana won by 103 run.

Star Cricket Club: 133 in 36 overs (Vishal Karande 17, Hrishikesh H 15, Amogh Wakalkar 16, Swapnil Vaidhya 2/28, Digvijay Kamtekar 2/29, Ranjit Kamthekar 2/12) lost to PYC Hindu Gymkhana: 134 for seven in 26 overs (Digvijay Kamtekar 29, Ranjit Kamthekar 26, Ranjit Mandrekar 26, Shivraj Sardesai 4/26). Result: PYC Hindu Gymkhana won by three wicket.
