Pak zealots queue up for Kashmir "jehad"
As the aged-man declared he had joined jehad after his two sons were "martyred" in Kashmir, many among the nearly one lakh audience wiped their tears; some sobbed loudly. The scene at Mundke, a small town 30 miles north of Lahore, was staged on the occasion of annual conference of Markar-e-Dawa Wal Irshad, the largest jehadi organisation in Pakistan sponsoring Lashkar-e-Toiba militants into Kashmir.

Mangoes out of reach this year
Mango, the king of fruits, may be beyond the reach of the common man this season. Production of popular varieties like Dussehri, Safeda and Hathi Jhool grown in this part of the country is likely to be less than half compared to last year's. The prolonged cold spell, which lasted till March, and frequent rains and hailstorms have hit the crop hard. The attack of Jhumka disease and large-cale felling of fruit-bearing trees added to it.

The Health Ministry appears to have bitten off more than it can chew, with pan masala and gutka manufacturers taking their protests on a move to ban gutka to the highest quarters and the Centre seeking expert views on steps to curb its consumption.

Clintons' ex-partner faces new trial in Whitewater case
Former Clinton business partner Susan McDougal was indicted on new charges related to her refusal to tell investigators what she knows about President and Hillary's business dealings. The indictment, handed down by an investigative panel in Arkansas that is completing its last week of work, charged McDougal with two counts of criminal contempt of court and one count of obstruction of justice.
