TT workshop comes to an end

PUNE, May 8: The Technical Quality Improvement workshop in table tennis, organised by Symbiosis Spa for the benefit of coaches, players and umpires successfully came to an end here today.

A M Lele, an international referee, was the resource person at the two-day workshop, in which a total of 48 players, coaches and umpires attended the workshop. The participants were divided into two age groups viz. under-15 years and above 15 years.

The major topics stressed on at the workshop included -- basic rules in table tennis, behavioral aspects inside and out side the playing arena, good vs bad sports manners (these topics were explained to the under-15 age group) while, interpretation of rules such as expedite rule, faulty service, controlling the players, ensuring the technical aspects in the playing arena etc., were discussed in the above 15 age group.

To make the participants understand well, demonstrations were carried on the table. On the occasion Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association (MSTTA) president Satish Pradhan released a set of seven video cassettes prepared by MSTTA on the Asian Cup Table Tennis Championship held recently at Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Shorts Complex, Balewadi.
