Cong won't rock BJP Govt, says Arjun Singh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
HYDERABAD, May 12: Senior Congress leader Arjun Singh made it clear today that the Congress was not interested in destabilising the BJP government at the Centre. "AICC president Sonia Gandhi has already said that the Congress does not have the numbers to form the government and that the party will play the role of a constructive opposition. If the BJP government falls under its own weight, the Congress will take the appropriate step then," Singh said at a press conference here.

He is here to participate in a function organised to felicitate Congress deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, P Shiv Shankar.

The former Union minister claimed that the party was recovering, with a perceptible change in the attitude of minorities and weaker sections who were once again looking towards the Congress.

Arjun Singh termed as hasty the BJP government's move to review the Constitution. It had already been amended as many as 78 times. The senior Congress leader welcomed the nuclear tests conducted yesterday.
