Four lifters for Bulgaria
NEW DELHI:
Four players and two officials have been approved for the fourth Women Junior World Weightlifting championship, to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from May 18-24 next.

The players are Sanamacha Chanu, Gitanjali Devi, K Krishna Kumari and Khoni Devi. Coaches T Stochiev (Bulgaria) and AS Virk would accompany the team as officials.

Army SC draw
BANGALORE:
Army Service Corps held holders Madras Engineering Group (MEG) to a goalless draw in the Pool A in the DRDO Arjun Cup All India football tournament here today.

The match was one of missed chances and fancied MEG, who dominated the proceedings, wasted more opportunities. MEG had defeated BEML earlier.

Bills cleared
BANGALORE:
The Karnataka assembly today passed the supplementary estimates (first instalment) of Rs 204.37 crores, including Rs 70 crores required by the state government to clear pending bills connected with the National Games.

Deputy chief minister Siddaramaiah, who moved thesupplementary estimates, said the amount included payment of interest and principal amount on overdraft facilities taken from banks in connection with the conduct of the Games.

Kapil idol
NEW DELHI:
Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja rates skipper Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar as the best players but considers the legendary Kapil Dev as his idol.

Jadeja talks about his childhood and cricketing days in the next episode of Different Strokes, a programme featuring the lives of various sports personalities, to be telecast by DD Metro channel.

The episode traces Jadeja's royal roots in Jamnagar where he was born in February 1971.
