Anand shocks Saboo

Mumbai, May 16: Unseeded Siddarth Anand of Delhi created a flutter at the Garware Club Houses today. He stunned second seeded Amit Saboo of Mumbai 483-397 on way to the billiards quarter-final of the Garware Club House open billiards and Snooker Championships.

In yet another major upset, former National champion Yasin Merchant of Mumbai, who has almost given up the game, defeated fourth seeded Varun Taneja of Delhi 814-459. Yasin had breaks of 125, 83 and 116 while Taneja had breaks of 57 and 85.

Others who made it to the last eight stage were Jatinder Davar, Dhruv Sitwala, fifth seeded Kamal Tulshan and Omar Balsara (all from Mumbai).
