Mumbai, May 16: Megha Vakharia stopped Johann Fernandes' run in the under-14 final of the Fifth Bombay Gymkhana Open Maharashtra State Ranking tennis tournament today.Johann, who upset Isha Lakhani in the semi-finals yesterday, was brushed aside by the top seed 6-1, 6-1.
Keshav Narasimhan (under-12), Karan Doctor (under-16) and Ronak Shah (girls' under-12) were the other champions of the day.
In the under-18 semi-finals, Shah overcame Tembe in the battle of left-handed Kedars. Radhika Tulpule will play her under-18 semi-finals tomorrow and if she wins, she will face Sonal Phadke in the final.
Sonal, after she almost upset national champion Uzma Khan at Shivaji Park yesterday, got down to business again. Though advised by her mother to pull out of the under-16, the doughty 15-year-old, playing an average of four matches everyday this week, decided to stick on.
