  BJP may order snap polls, fears Congress
The extended Congress Working Committee meeting on Saturday saw several state leaders expressing the possibility of mid-term elections, saying the Vajpayee Government could attempt to derive political mileage out of the nuclear tests by ordering snap polls. The marathon meeting witnessed strong pleas to project that the nuclear tests were possible due to the relentless work done by successive Congress governments.
  Laloo, Mulayam fume over N-tests
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government has decided to go in for a full-fledged discussion in Parliament on the fallout of the series of nuclear tests conducted by the country. But if the statements made on Friday by former defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Yadav are an indication. The duo lashed out at the Vajpayee Government for trying to derive political mileage from the nuclear tests.

TMC politburo to redefine party role in TN
The newly-constituted political affairs committee (PAC) and executive of the Tamil Maanila Congress will meet for the first time on Sunday to evolve strategies to strengthen the party organisation at the grassroots level and more importantly to redefine the party's role in Tamil Nadu so as to share or capture power in the near future.
BJP runs into hurdles on crucial bills
Despite its resolve, the BJP-led Government may not be able to introduce some crucial Bills in the budget session of Parliament. The Bills likely to be affected are the one granting full statehood to Delhi, the legislation on the creation of the states of Vananchal and Chattisgarh, the Prasar Bharati and the Electoral Reforms.

Two months after getting elected to Lok Sabha, controversial Assam Congress leader and two-times Assam MLA Mani Kumar Subba, is facing a CBI inquiry into his doubtful citizenship status as also his involvement in several serious financial scandals in at least three north-eastern states.
Thackeray may revoke his temporary sanyas
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray may revoke his decision to keep off active politics for a while, on the eve of the by-elections to the 10 Assembly seats on June 3. "Since we are determined to defeat the Congress in the by-elections, I feel that Thackeray will campaign actively", Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde said.
