Smooth victory for Ajinkya Gymkhana

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICES
MUMBAI, May 17: Ajinkya Gymkhana (Satara) scored their third victory when they defeated hosts Fatima Sports Club 56-26 in the round robin league of the third State-Level Invitational basketball tournament, sponsored by the Mahendra Pratap Sharda Pratap Singh Memorial Trust, at the Fatima School courts, Vidyavihar, on Sunday.

Fatima were outplayed in all the departments of the game. They lacked in speed when Ajinkya went on the fast breaks, lacked in height to tear down rebounds and their ball-handler Sushma Holmagi was not able to distribute the ball well.

Ajinkya, of course has the experience of the international duo of Arnika Gujar and Pradnya Mane. Ajinkya did not have to work very hard for their victory, Fatima were handing them the opportunities to score on a platter.

In the earlier game, Agredneya Vyayamshala, trounced SB City College, Nagpur 51-25.

Another Nagpur outfit, Saravwati Kanya Sangh, who arrived only this afternoon, impressed with a 65-20 drubbing of Satara Gymkhana. They have thewherewithal and the experience of Sonal Kavade and Archana Mule to boot. But today it was the tall Renuka Deshpande who gave a brilliant performance and scored 11 points.

RESULTS
