Farooq Abdullah for war with Pakistan to end Kashmir row

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, May 17: ``India should go in for a war with Pakistan to get Kashmir out of the trauma of continuous insurgency and settle all problems permanently as peaceful means have not worked''.

This was stated by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah while addressing a labour rally in the high security Sher-e-Kashmir Park yesterday evening.

``They go on infiltrating people and killing us. Our fauz is also tired of killing them as about ten to twenty infiltrators are being killed every day. It is high time that the Centre gets us out of this trouble as we desperately need peace to put the State back on the rails of prosperity,'' the chief minister opined while addressing the rally.

The Chief Minister said that he is going to Delhi to attend a high-level meeting regarding the security scenario of the State. He has also decided to advice the Central Government to exercise the extreme option of war to stop the evil designs of Pakistan in Kashmir.

``We were wishing even to open the border sothat we can see Lahore and Rawalpindi and they would also visit Nishat and Shalimar, but they want to grab all by force,'' the chief minister added.

Giving hints regarding the latest nuclear tests conducted by India, he said ``They (Pakistan) should realise that all wars will be now aerial warfare''.

The pro-National Conference State Central Labour Union had organised the rally to put forth the long-pending demands of the low-paid field employees and daily wagers of the the department.

The chief minister told the workers that the Govt will provide representation to them in the affairs of the corporations and take their elected and genuine leaders in the management boards.

He also accepted their demand to extend the benefits of SRO43 (compassionate appointment of next to kin of employees killed in militancy-related incidents).

The labour leaders demanded an increase in minimum daily wages from Rs 35 to Rs 60.
