NEW DELHI, May 17: Arjun Atwal carded a par round to finish joint second in the $200,000 Guam Open golf, according to information received here. The 25-year-old Atwal, who earned $17,330 for his efforts, had a chance to take the top spot in the front nine but American Jerry Smith, who won his first ever Omega Tour title with an aggregate of 16-under 272, sunk birdies on the seventh and ninth to maintain his lead. Smith's win was worth $32,300.Atwal had returned a five-under card in the third round yesterday but went two over on the front nine on the final day today before firing a 34 on his return. He had a cumulative score of 10-under 278 and shared the second place with South Africa's Chris Williams who had a 74 today. Williams' third round score was a superb eight-under 64.
The other Indian to finish in the top 10 was Vivek Bhandari who finished joint seventh for a five-under 283. He fired a level par on the final day and had a three under 69 in the third round on Saturday. Bhandari earned$5,153.33.
Arjun Singh finished joint 20th, Gaurav Ghei joint 34th, Amritinder Singh joint 37 and Uttam Sing Mundy joint 43rd.
