Kader was declared to ride favourite Associate in the first race. The Tecorno-Save The Future three year old filly Associate was highly fractious and in fact, gave a lot of problems while being saddled by her tantrums.

The filly had not calmed down when she was paraded in the paddock. As soon as jockey Kader mounted on her, she began playing up. Kader tried to restrain her but the filly reared up so awkwardly, he lost his balance and fell.

The horse too fell on him and he lay motionless. He was rushed to Mallya Hospital where a scan showed a lower lumbar cervical compress fracture. Kader will be out of action for a considerable period of time.
