Cyber cafe at Sec 17 CITCO building soon

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, May 17: A Cyber Cafe is in the offing in the office of the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) in Sector 17.

The cafe will offer facilities for browsing through the Internet, using E-mail, fax and other similar facilities at reasonable charges. In addition, visitors would be able to book rooms to Hotel Mountview, Hotel Shivalik View or Yatri Niwas -- and possibly make payment for the services too -- and conduct business with some CITCO outlets located in Industrial Area. The place is also going to have a restaurant for visitors.

Talking to Newsline, CITCO chairperson Meenakshi Datta Ghosh said the Cyber Cafe will be opened on the ground floor of the CITCO office, adjacent to the Regional Computer Centre (RCC).

While such centres were earlier opened in Hotel Mountview and Hotel Shivalik View, they were primarily for in-house guests.

Changes are also being carried out in CITCO to revamp its functioning and make it more consumer-friendly and give it a unified, visually appealing corporate image. The fourth floor of the CITCO office has already been renovated, giving it a refreshing look different from the drab sarkari daftar.

An interesting aspect about the office of the chairperson is the "ikea" office furniture -- a la Sweden. The idea behind this furniture is to save on space, to cope with the increasing shortage of commercial office space.

The CITCO logo, in the meantime, will retain its soaring bird but it will now be one of the migratory birds which visit Sukhna every year. The colour of the bird orange and red is also being changed to a blue and green: reflecting the blue of the clear skies of Chandigarh and the green of the gardens in the city.
