BJP criticises demand made by local leaders

CHANDIGARH, May 17: The local unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has deplored the demand made by certain local political leaders, seeking the resignation of the Mayor Gian Chand Gupta.

In a press release issued here yesterday, BJP local unit president Dharam Paul Gupta, vice-president Suresh Verma and general secretary Niraj Tayal, said that leaders making such demands, especially from the Congress, are trying to destabilise the representatives of the public.

They also charged certain bureaucrats with being behind the move as their authority had been reduced due to the governess of public representatives.

Meanwhile, they also applauded the role of the Mayor in beautifying the City.
