Spate of thefts in Sec 26 grain market

CHANDIGARH, May 17: A Maruti car and accessories and other goods worth nearly Rs 1 lakh were reportedly stolen in a spate of thefts in the Sector 26 Grain Market last night.While a Maruti car belonging to Sanjiv Sharma, a resident of the Grain Market, was stolen last night, Subhash Bansal reported to the police that thieves broke the wind screen of his Cielo (CH-01-U-5894) and took away a car stereo and clothes worth over Rs 50,000. In another incident in the area, a car stereo was stolen from the vehicle owned by Bachan Lal Goel. Goel alleged that there had been at least two more such incidents in the area last night and in the wee hours of this morning.Separate cases have been registered by the police.
