Nurses withdraw May 20 strike call

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PATIALA, May 17: The Punjab Nurses Association (PNA) has withdrawn its strike call for May 20.

Jiwanpreet Kaur, PNA president said here today that the decision had been taken as a token of goodwill following an agreement between the government and the striking Delhi nurses and also keeping in view the coming by-elections.

The PNA appealed to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to announce the acceptance of the nurses demands immediately after the by-elections so that the Association was not forced to resort to agitational means.

State president Jiwanpreet Kaur appreciated the positive role of Parkash Singh Badal, who had used his personal influence with the Central Health Department and Delhi government to get their demands accepted.

She congratulated the HP nurses leaders -- Savitri Shandil, Bimla Prarthi, Brij Bala Sood, PGI nurses leaders -- Vinod Jolly and Haryana nurses leaders-- Jasbir Kaur Mangal and Bimla Sharma for successfully supporting Delhi nurses strike.
