CHANDIGARH, May 17: Narinder Kwatra scored a match winning hundred while Navdeep Singh capped an all round performance (5 for 47 and 73 n.o.) to relegate a blistering knock by CNS XI's Viresh Sharda (145) into the background as Sohal XI beat CNS XI by three wickets in the opening match of the N R Joshi Memorial cricket tournament at the Gursagar ground today.Kwatra and Navdeep shared a 132 run third wicket partnership after Sohal XI were in a none too happy situation early on. Even after Kwatra was dismissed, Navdeep was there till the end when his side successfully chased CNS XI's 261. The two paced the chase to a perfection. Kwatra hit 15 fours in his 106 while Navdeep Singh was typically forceful during his stint.
Earlier, Viresh had the Sohal XI's bowling at his command. He hit 18 fours and three sixes in his 100 ball knock of 145, the only deterrent being the oppressive heat today. For Sohal XI Navdeep Singh picked up five wickets though he proved quite expensive while Narinder Kwatra and Ajay Sikka had two wickets each.
