Diamonds stolen
Diamonds worth Rs 8.50 lakhs were stolen by unidentified people from the Hira Bazaar area of Mahidharpura on Saturday afternoon, the police said. According to a complaint lodged in the police station by Ketanbhai Bakshi, a diamond trader, 148 carats of diamonds were stolen. The Mahidharpura police have registered a case under IPC 379 and are investigating.

Case registered
The Varachha police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against an employee of a diamond merchant, who escaped with diamonds worth Rs 86,000, the police said. Vinodbhai Patel told the Varachha police on Sunday that one Dilipbhai Abhaliya, a resident of Daatran taluka of Jamnagar and his employee, escaped with the diamonds, which he was supposed to sell in the market. Abhaliya is since absconding, the complainant added. A case under section 406 of the IPC has been registered and is being investigated.

Burns death
One Gangaben Amrutbhai, a 22-year-old resident of Singanpore village on the outskirts of the city, died in the Maskati Hospital of the city during the early hours of Sunday after sustaining severe burn injuries a few hours before admission, the Katargam police said. Gangaben, who was making tea, was seriously burnt when the primus stove exploded, the police added. A case under sections 174 of the CrPC has been registered at the Katargam police station and is being investigated.

Electrocuted
One Saniben Nansinh Babri, a resident of Shitalnagar slum at Udhna, died on the spot when she was electrocuted at her house on Sunday morning, the police said. The victim, according to the police, was ironing clothes when she received an electric shock and was declared dead on admission to the New Civil Hospital of the city. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered and is being investigated.
