Swami Agnivesh lauds nuclear tests
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
KULLU, May 17: Swami Agnivesh, the president of Bonded Labour Liberation Front and a prominent Arya Samaj leader, while congratulating Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for conducting the series of nuclear tests, has described the tests as a reply to the alleged `nuclear blackmail' of foreign countries like America. He was addressing a gathering at the Arya Sammelan organised by the Himachal unit of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha here yesterday. He said that the prime minister, by taking such a bold step, had really boosted the spirit of nationalism and self respect of the country. Swami maintained that United States President Bill Clinton had no moral right to impose a ban on India as America itself had conducted a thousand nuclear tests. He lauded the opposition parties for supporting the nuclear policy of the Vajpayee government and said that now India had truly entered the 21st century. Agnivesh appealed to the present government and all political parties, scientists, labour and socio-religious organisations to wage a united battle against starvation, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, bonded labour and other social evils.
