Technical studies for prostitutes' children

NEW DELHI, May 17: The SOCIAL welfare department of the Delhi Government has provided admission to seven children of destitute women -- four boys and three girls -- to impart technical education with assurance of job. Bharatiya Patita Udhar Sabha (BPUS) president Khairati Lal Bhola said six children of prostitutes from the red light area of the Walled City will be admitted to the Maharani Bagh village cottage home and the seventh child in the Kirti Nagar orphanage home.

He said the children will be provided education up to the ten-plus-two level till the age of 18 and the absorbed in the services in reserved categories. Social welfare department Director Geeta Sagar agreed with the proposal to provide identity cards to the mothers of the seven children so that no other person will be allowed to meet them and lure them into prostitution, Bhola said.

The ONGC has ensured financial help, including supply of uniforms and textbooks to them, Bhola added.
