Jewellery, cash looted in separate incidents

MUMBAI, May 19: Four unidentified men barged into a jewellery manufacturing unit at the Shah and Nahar Industrial Estate, Lower Parel, and decamped with semi-finished ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh on Monday afternoon.

Deepak Mahadik and his four assistants were cleaning the process room at around 10.15 am when four men armed with choppers and knives barged into the A-1 Wing, Gala no 140 of the industrial estate building in the Sun Mill Lane. The employees were then herded into a chamber which was locked from the outside.

The robbers decamped with the semi-finished ornaments and Rs 5000 in cash.

In another incident, seven unidentified men barged into a jewellery store at Vile Parle (east) at around 6 pm and walked off with jewellery and cash amounting to around Rs 3.36 lakh. The robbers raided Hasmukh Jewellers near Vile Parle phathak and escaped in a car parked nearby. No arrests have been made so far.
