Shakeel gang kills Rajan man

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, May 19: An extortionist and Chhota Rajan gang member was shot dead by Chhota Shakeel gunmen at Masjid Bunder station on Monday night.

At around 11.30 pm, as 27-year old Raees Ahmed was descending the stairs, a gunman shot him twice before fleeing.

Raees had offences registered against him at various police stations in south Mumbai. Raees and his partner in crime, Haji Mukhtar, who was shot dead at Dongri on March 4 this year by Shakeel gunmen, had spread a reign of terror in the area. Raees was arrested by the Pydhonie police in January in connection with the kidnaping of a businessman Poonamchand Malu.

Malu was involved in a financial dispute with one Madanlal, who approached Pradeep Madgaonkar alias Bandya Mama of the Rajan gang, who is in Arthur Road jail, to resolve the dispute. Bandya Mama in turn had assigned the job to Mukhtar and Raees to kidnap Malu and settle the dispute. The duo was also involved in the murder of Shakeel's financier, Farooq Ladhi, in Dongri last year.
