VADODARA, May 19: For the first time in its history, M S University proposes to declare the results of the examinations conducted in April by the first week of June. Results of examinations held in April are usually published by the end of June or the beginning of July by the university.Officer on special duty (examination) L J Parekh told Express Newsline that the results of the final year of both the bachelors and masters of the Science, Commerce and Arts disciplines would be declared first.
Claiming that the results used to be delayed earlier because of the absence of a centralised assessment and the lack of follow-up action among teachers, Parekh said that two computers had been recently installed for assessment.
``Till the previous year only one computer was used during the printing of results, but this year one computer has been kept to be used even during the nights,'' said Parekh, adding that the computers would now be processing the marksheets constantly.
``Earlier, though most of the examinations were over by the end of April or the beginning of May, the teachers either went away for a vacation or neglected to submit the answer-sheets on time,''said Parekh, adding that this often led to the delay in coordinating and publishing the results.
The teachers had also been given a deadline this year and university officials were constantly inquiring the status of the answer-scripts and about when they could submit the papers so that the details could be fed into the computers, Parekh said.
Announcing that the results of the first year and second years would follow after the results of the final year were declared, Parekh said the early declaration of final year results would allow students aspiring to appear for entrance examinations to higher courses in other States.
